Paving the Way Forward

2018 was a banner year for the Meetings Mean Business Coalition. In 2019, we’re building on our successes and reinforcing our mission of promoting and protecting the industry. To do this, we’ll scale our program of work in four ways:

- Mobilizing internal audiences to engage external ones;

- Recruiting highest-priority validators from business and government;

- Deploying new messaging and materials that are tailored-made for target markets; and

- Socializing more proof points about the industry’s value by leading with economic impact data and influencers’ stories.

We believe that with scale comes new opportunities to engage in U.S. markets and in countries around the world.

This year, we’ve committed to organizing the biggest and boldest celebration of Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) yet. We’re challenging event hosts to think outside the box by engaging more leaders from business, government and the media.

Last year, we saw 206 GMID events in 41 countries, along with record participation from social media users and elected officials. With planning for GMID 2019 underway, mark your calendars for April 4 and click here to find out how you can get involved.

Without question, GMID has been one of the best recruiting tools for the coalition, which now has more members, supporters and global chapters than ever before.

In 2016, we proudly announced our first international chapter, Meetings Mean Business Canada, and this year we’re welcoming Meetings Mean Business India into the fold.

We’re also growing our ranks with a new Advisory Council based in the U.S., comprised of industry professionals at the director-level who work in healthcare, technology or financial services – our three priority business verticals. Council members will work with the current roster of MMBC Ambassadors and coalition leaders to:

- Raise awareness of MMBC and our efforts to champion the value of meetings among their corporate and association contacts; and

- Inform future programming and outreach for external audiences in the business community.

If you’re interested in joining in the Council, please send us an email by February 15.

We’re excited for what’s ahead!
